The thousands who read our publications are engineers, scientists, business executives, university students, and technology professionals. They consider our publications as a unique resource with science/engineering business information and technical education information for an international readership of technologists and educators who value more diversity in the science and engineering workforce.
In Europe, the lack of diversity, and specifically, gender diversity, is one of the key problems that both technological companies and academia are facing these days. Women make up just 34 % of the STEM graduates in the EU. According to the NSF, the US STEM workforce is 89% white and 72% male, so enhancing diversity with more persons from underrepresented groups just makes good sense because people with different backgrounds have different experiences and perspectives, ask different questions, and develop more innovative solutions.
Science/Engineering workforce diversity is not just a metric for reflecting social responsibility, it is an economic imperative for today’s competitive global economies. The articles in our publications have led to collaborative relationships involving synergy across science education, skilled individuals, and businesses opportunities and the promotion of diversity and inclusion in higher education and technical disciplines.
